Donna Summer: Another Legend Lost

The world has once again received bad news about the loss of another legend in the music industry. Grammy and NAACP Image Awards winner Donna Summer has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Donna Summer had a very long career of which included great accolades such as three Multi-Platinum albums, six American Music Awards and five Grammy Awards. She absolutely dominated the disco charts during the 1970’s and her two singles “She Works Hard For The Money” and “Love Is In Control” were major recordings during the 1980’s. The multi-platinum selling legend was definitely an influence to many female pop and R&B artists today, such as Beyonce. Even in her last few years of her life, she still worked hard to deliver great music to her fans with her 2008 album “Crayons.” Other artists from her time, such as Gloria Gaynor, have already expressed their sadness in the news of this great loss.

Summer is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano and three daughters Mimi Summer, Brooklyn and Amanda Sudano. Although the people of this world has lost a great artist in Donna Summer, her soul shall forever live on through the immortal sound and feeling of her music. R.I.P. Donna Summer 1948-2012
